EV maker Ola Electric board approves up to Rs 1,000 crore rights issue
Electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric has approved a plan to raise up to Rs 1,000 crore through a rights issue of partly paid-up equity shares to eligible shareholders. The company's board approved the proposal on 28 September. The issue remains subject to applicable regulatory and statutory approvals. Ola Electric has not yet finalised the issue price, rights entitlement ratio, record date, number of shares, payment terms or the opening and closing dates of the issue. These details will be decided by the board or its rights issue committee. A rights issue allows a listed company to raise capital by offering new shares to its existing shareholders, usually in proportion to their current holdings. According to Ola Electric's Draft Letter of Offer, about Rs 350 crore of the proceeds are proposed to be used for repayment or prepayment of borrowings, while Rs 400 crore has been allocated for organic growth initiatives.
