State health departments and the National Health Mission hire nurses, ANMs, lab technicians and pharmacists. Many NHM posts are contractual. Selection is state and district-wise.

How to prepare

  • Renew your nursing/paramedical council registration before applying; an expired number gets the form rejected.
  • For written tests revise fundamentals of nursing, community health, midwifery and pharmacology from your course books.
  • District health society ads often give only 7-15 days; check the district and arogya.maharashtra.gov.in notice pages every week.
  • Contract posts are renewed yearly; read the contract length, pay and leave terms before joining.
  • Keep internship/experience certificates signed and dated; many NHM posts give marks for experience.

Mistakes people make

  • Applying with an expired council registration.
  • Assuming a contract NHM post will become permanent.
  • Missing short-deadline district ads.
  • Not attaching experience certificates when the ad gives marks for them.
