SSC MTS and Havaldar (CBIC, CBN)

Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) do support work in central government offices: files, records, office upkeep. Havaldar posts are in the tax departments (CBIC and CBN) with field duty. Both come through one SSC exam.

Walk 1600 m in 15 minutes; height 157.5 cm, chest 76 cm + 5 cm expansion. Check the official notice

Walk 1 km in 20 minutes; height 152 cm, weight 48 kg. Check the official notice

How to prepare

  • Two sessions in the CBT; the first has no negative marking, so attempt all.
  • Focus on numerical ability and reasoning, then general English and awareness.
  • For Havaldar, practise brisk walking: 1600 m in 15 minutes for men, 1 km in 20 minutes for women.
  • Choose Havaldar in the form only if you are ready for field posting.

Mistakes people make

  • Not opting for Havaldar in the form and then wanting it later.
  • Wrong zone/region choice, which decides posting.
  • Ignoring English section.
