About the Role
CRIB FACTORY is looking for a highly experienced freelance consultant from the furniture manufacturing industry to help optimise our existing production operations, improve efficiency, reduce manufacturing costs, and establish systematic production processes.
We are seeking a hands-on industry expert who can assess our current manufacturing setup, identify operational challenges, and recommend practical, result-oriented improvements to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing furniture manufacturing processes and identify production bottlenecks.
- Improve production planning, scheduling, workflow, and manpower utilisation.
- Optimise factory layout, machinery utilisation, and material flow.
- Reduce material wastage, labour costs, rework, and production delays.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production monitoring systems.
- Improve product costing, material estimation, and manufacturing profitability.
- Establish quality-control standards for furniture construction, assembly, and finishing.
- Improve raw material planning, inventory management, and procurement coordination.
- Train and guide production supervisors and workers.
- Recommend practical strategies to increase production capacity, consistency, and operational efficiency.
Required Experience
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in furniture manufacturing or factory operations.
- Practical experience in managing or improving furniture production units.
- Strong knowledge of solid wood furniture, plywood/board furniture, sofas, upholstery, and custom furniture manufacturing.
- Understanding of CNC operations, carpentry, assembly, sanding, polishing, finishing, and quality control.
- Proven ability to improve productivity, reduce costs, and streamline manufacturing processes.
- Previous experience as a Production Head, Factory Manager, Manufacturing Consultant, or senior production professional is preferred.
Engagement Model
- Freelance consultancy on a project basis or agreed periodic visits.
- Flexible working arrangement based on project requirements.
- Initial factory assessment followed by an actionable improvement plan.
- Progress reviews and implementation support as mutually agreed.
Compensation
Professional fees will be negotiated based on experience, project scope, and deliverables.
