Job Purpose
To ensure the safe, efficient and uninterrupted operation of electrical systems, machinery and equipment in the manufacturing plant through preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance and timely troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities1. Electrical Maintenance
Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of industrial electrical equipment.
Inspect, maintain and troubleshoot motors, starters, contactors, relays, MCC panels and control panels.
Identify electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs to minimise machine downtime.
Maintain electrical wiring, lighting and power distribution systems.
Machinery & Equipment Maintenance
Attend electrical breakdowns in production machinery and ensure quick restoration.
Troubleshoot VFDs, sensors, limit switches and basic PLC-controlled systems.
Monitor electrical equipment performance and identify potential failures.
Support installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment.
Preventive Maintenance
Execute preventive maintenance activities according to the approved schedule.
Conduct routine inspections of electrical panels, motors and other equipment.
Maintain preventive maintenance checklists and breakdown records.
Report recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
Electrical Safety & Compliance
Follow electrical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Use appropriate PPE and ensure safe electrical isolation before maintenance.
Report unsafe electrical conditions and take immediate preventive measures.
Comply with applicable factory safety standards and electrical regulations.
Operational Support
Coordinate with production teams to minimise equipment downtime.
Support maintenance activities during planned shutdowns.
Maintain electrical tools, spare parts and equipment in proper condition.
Work in rotational shifts and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
Required Technical Skills
Good knowledge of industrial electrical systems and three-phase motors.
Experience in motor starters, MCC panels, contactors and relays.
Practical knowledge of VFDs and electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and control circuits.
Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors and automation systems.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance and industrial electrical safety.
Preferred Candidate Profile
ITI Electrician with 3–5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing plant.
Experience in food processing, FMCG or continuous-process manufacturing industries preferred.
Ability to independently identify and rectify common electrical breakdowns.
Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
Good coordination skills and a safety-conscious approach.
