Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing – Payment Posting professional to handle accurate and timely posting of insurance and patient payments. The candidate will be responsible for posting EOBs/ERAs, reconciling payments, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining accurate patient account records.
Key Responsibilities
Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the billing system.
Process EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and ERAs (Electronic Remittance Advices).
Post contractual adjustments, denials, refunds, and other adjustments as per the EOB/ERA.
Identify and resolve payment posting discrepancies.
Reconcile daily payment batches with bank deposits and system totals.
Handle EFT/ERA transactions and ensure accurate payment application.
Identify underpayments, overpayments, duplicate payments, and unapplied payments.
Transfer or reallocate payments to the appropriate patient accounts when required.
Maintain accurate records of posted payments and adjustments.
Coordinate with the AR/Denial Management team regarding payment discrepancies and denials.
Follow payer-specific guidelines and client SOPs.
Meet daily productivity and accuracy targets.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Required Skills
Knowledge of US healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM).
Good understanding of medical billing and payment posting processes.
Knowledge of EOB, ERA, EFT, CPT, ICD-10, and insurance terminology.
Basic understanding of insurance payment and adjustment codes.
Good analytical and reconciliation skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in MS Excel and medical billing software.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
2–4 years of experience in US healthcare medical billing/payment posting.
Experience working with billing systems such as Epic, Cerner, NextGen, Athena, or similar systems is preferred.
