About the role
You'll work on statutory and internal audit engagements across mid-sized and large clients, and support the direct and indirect tax compliance team. The role reports to the engagement manager/partner. It suits someone who wants hands-on exposure across the full audit cycle and wants to build real client-facing responsibility.
Key responsibilities
Statutory audit
Execute audit procedures in line with Standards on Auditing: vouching, verification, analytical review, confirmations
Prepare and maintain audit working papers and lead schedules
Assist with CARO 2020 reporting, Schedule III compliance and financial statement review under AS/Ind AS
Attend physical verification of inventory and fixed assets
Internal & concurrent audit
Test controls and processes (P2P, O2C, payroll, inventory) against agreed audit programmes
Identify control gaps and draft observations with root cause, risk and recommendation
Track management action on previously reported findings
IFC, Risk assessment and SOP draftings
Direct tax
Prepare income tax returns and tax audit reports (Form 3CA/3CB-3CD)
Handle TDS/TCS computation, returns (24Q/26Q/27Q) and reconciliation with 26AS/AIS
Assist in drafting replies to notices and assessment proceedings
Indirect tax (GST)
Prepare GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9/9C, and reconcile ITC with GSTR-2B
Support GST refund applications and notice replies
Reporting & communication
Draft audit reports, management letters, notice replies and client emails that are clear and accurate
Coordinate with client finance teams for information and query resolution
Keep seniors informed on progress, open items and issues without being chased
Skills required
- Excel
- fluent with pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data cleaning and reconciliations across large datasets
- Drafting
- able to write a structured audit observation or notice reply with minimal rework
- Communication
- confident in client meetings and on calls in English; a regional language is a plus
Working knowledge of Companies Act 2013, Income-tax Act, GST law and Standards on Auditing
Comfort with Tally, SAP or other ERPs used by clients
Qualifications & experience
CA Inter / semi-qualified CA / B.Com or M.Com with relevant experience
1–3 years in a CA firm, with audit exposure mandatory and tax exposure preferred
Willingness to travel to client locations
