Senior Consultant - Air Quality

About the Role

WSP India is seeking a highly accomplished and motivated Environmental Acoustic Consultant to join our Earth & Environment (E&E) business, based in Bengaluru/Noida, India. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our South Africa-based Environment team, contributing to prestigious, high-profile projects across the E&E sector.

This opportunity offers the rare advantage of working within a truly global environment, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of around 200 talented professionals in South Africa, spanning Environmental Planning & Advisory, Technical Services, Mine Water, and Mine Waste.

What We Do

The role will be a Senior Consultant within the Air Quality team, working on projects within South Africa and internationally, with a focus on baseline data analysis, emissions inventory compilations and dispersion modelling.

The role will also require good reporting skills for the compilation of monitoring reports, Air Quality Impact Assessments and Air Quality Management Plans.

WSP Africa also runs projects outside of South Africa, presenting access to a diverse range of air quality projects.

As a Senior Consultant – Air Quality, you will

Serve as a core member of the ZA GCC India E&E team, delivering strategic support from India to develop and deliver projects through various stages.

Conduct ambient air quality and meteorological data analysis.

Compile emissions inventories.

Conduct dispersion modelling (AERMOD, CALPUFF and SCREEN3).

Compile Atmospheric Impact Reports, Air Quality Impact Assessments and Air Quality Management Plans.

Support Atmospheric Emission License applications and renewals.

Compile Annual Reports and annual regulatory air quality submissions.

Process and format ambient monitoring data and compilation of various forms of monitoring reports.

Assist with compilation of air quality proposals as and when needed.

Act as a SHEQ role model, behaving consistently within the company’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies.

Contribute to the identification of SHEQ risks and drive processes to achieve Zero Harm.

MANDATORY SKILLS

Knowledge of the fundamentals of air quality and international legislation (e.g., WHO or IFC).

Technical report writing skills to produce professional reports in fluent English.

Technical skills to manage, verify and analyze data.

Minimum 6 years’ experience in dispersion modelling.

Master’s degree in environmental engineering or an equivalent field.

Emission inventory compilation and dispersion modelling in AERMOD and CALPUFF.

Demonstrable project management experience at an introductory level.
