Position
Consultant Nephrologist
Reporting To
Medical Superintendent / Head of Department
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases.
Evaluate and treat Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
Manage patients with hypertension, electrolyte disorders and acid-base abnormalities.
Provide comprehensive care for patients requiring renal replacement therapy.
Assess and manage patients undergoing Hemodialysis and other dialysis modalities.
Evaluate patients for kidney transplantation and provide pre- and post-transplant care where applicable.
Manage nephrotic syndrome, glomerular diseases, diabetic kidney disease and other renal disorders.
Handle emergency nephrology cases and provide timely medical intervention.
Perform or supervise procedures related to nephrology as per hospital protocols and privileges.
Coordinate patient care with ICU, Emergency, Cardiology, Neurology, Urology and other specialties.
Patient Care
Conduct detailed patient consultations and clinical assessments.
Develop appropriate treatment plans based on diagnosis and clinical condition.
Explain diagnosis, treatment options and prognosis to patients and their attendants.
Monitor treatment response and modify treatment plans when required.
Maintain proper and timely clinical documentation and medical records.
Hospital Responsibilities
Participate in rounds, clinical meetings and multidisciplinary discussions.
Follow hospital policies, NABH standards and infection-control protocols.
Maintain accurate medical records and discharge summaries.
Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Guide and supervise junior doctors and clinical staff when required.
Participate in CME programs, academic activities and professional development.
Qualifications
MBBS
DM / DNB in Nephrology
Experience
Relevant experience as a Nephrologist / Consultant Nephrologist preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
Good knowledge of renal diseases and dialysis management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary hospital environment.
Strong patient-care and decision-making skills.
Commitment to ethical medical practice and patient safety.
Working Conditions
Full-time
Emergency and on-call duties as per hospital schedule.
Duties and responsibilities may be modified according to hospital requirements and applicable policies.
