job Opening: Purchase Engineer – Mechanical Department: Purchase / Procurement Industry: Water Treatment Plants, STP, ETP & RO Plants Job Location: vile parle Experience: 2–5 Years (preferred) Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary We are looking for a qualified and experienced Purchase Engineer with a mechanical engineering background to manage procurement activities for Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP), and Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants. The candidate should have knowledge of mechanical equipment, industrial components, vendor development, quotation comparison, cost negotiation, purchase orders, and timely material delivery. Key Responsibilities Handle end-to-end procurement of mechanical equipment, spares, consumables, and plant-related materials for WTP, STP, ETP, and RO projects. Source and develop vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and authorized dealers. Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements (CST), negotiate prices, and finalize suppliers. Procure pumps, motors, air blowers, valves, pipes, fittings, filters, membranes, dosing pumps, agitators, and other plant equipment. Purchase electrical and instrumentation items related to treatment plant requirements, where applicable. Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) and follow up for timely delivery. Coordinate with project, design, site, stores, accounts, and maintenance teams. Verify technical specifications, BOQ, datasheets, and material requirements before procurement. Maintain vendor databases, purchase records, delivery schedules, and procurement documentation. Monitor material quality, delivery timelines, warranty, and supplier performance. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and technical compliance. Arrange urgent materials and spare parts for site breakdowns and maintenance requirements. Required Technical Knowledge Mechanical equipment used in WTP, STP, ETP, and RO plants. Pumps, motors, air blowers, butterfly valves, gate valves, NRV, pipes, and fittings. Pressure filters, sand filters, activated carbon filters, RO membranes, dosing systems, and related spares. MS, SS304, SS316, UPVC, CPVC, HDPE, and cast-iron materials. Reading BOQs, technical datasheets, material specifications, and vendor quotations. Excel, comparative statements, purchase orders, and ERP or procurement software. Required Skills Strong vendor development and negotiation skills. Good knowledge of industrial procurement and mechanical components. Ability to compare technical specifications and commercial offers. Effective communication and coordination skills. Good documentation, follow-up, and cost-control abilities. Ability to manage multiple purchase requirements and meet deadlines. Preferred Candidate Experience in water and wastewater treatment plant procurement. Experience with EPC contractors, plant maintenance companies, or industrial projects. Existing supplier contacts for mechanical equipment and industrial components. Ability to source materials locally and from manufacturers across India.
