Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Eye Exams
- Test visual acuity, depth perception, and eye coordination using specialized equipment.
- Diagnose Conditions
- Identify refractive errors (like nearsightedness) and eye diseases (like glaucoma).
- Prescribe Corrective Gear
- Fit and prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and low-vision aids.
- Manage Ocular Health
- Prescribe medications for eye diseases or provide pre- and post-operative care.
Detect Systemic Issues: Screen for signs of general health conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure and refer patients to medical specialists.
