Job Summary

We are looking for a Purchase Engineer / Executive with 2–5 years of experience specifically in the plastic manufacturing industry. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing, vendor management, negotiation, procurement of engineering/maintenance materials, and ensuring timely availability of materials required for smooth plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Handle end-to-end purchase activities for the manufacturing plant.

Source and procure engineering spares, electrical items, mechanical components, consumables, maintenance materials and production-related requirements.

Identify, evaluate and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.

Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors.

Negotiate price, quality, delivery timelines and payment terms with suppliers.

Generate and process Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up with vendors for timely delivery.

Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Stores, Engineering and Accounts teams for material requirements.

Monitor inventory and ensure timely procurement to avoid stock-outs or production delays.

Verify material specifications and coordinate with the concerned technical team where required.

Track pending orders, deliveries and vendor commitments.

Maintain proper purchase records, vendor documentation and procurement reports.

Handle vendor complaints, quality issues, shortages and replacement of defective materials.

Develop alternative vendors and negotiate for cost optimization.

Ensure purchases are made as per company specifications, approved budgets and timelines.

Requirements

2–5 years of relevant purchase/procurement experience in the plastic manufacturing industry is mandatory.

Diploma / Graduate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Good knowledge of engineering, electrical and mechanical items/spares.

Experience in vendor development, quotation comparison and price negotiation.

Good understanding of purchase processes and inventory requirements.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Should be comfortable working in a manufacturing/plant environment.

Must be willing to work 10–12 hour shifts

Candidates should be immediately available for interview.

Immediate joiners / candidates with short notice period will be preferred.
