Research and Development Intern

We are looking for a proactive and research-oriented R\&D Intern to support us in identifying new opportunities, conducting education and market research, and building relationships with schools, government bodies, NGOs, universities, and other institutions.

The role combines research, opportunity scouting, outreach, partnerships, and business development.

Key Responsibilities

Research \& Development

• Research and identify relevant competitions, internships, fellowships, summer programmes, research opportunities, volunteering programmes, and scholarships.
• Track university programmes, admissions trends, emerging academic fields, and extracurricular opportunities.
• Develop research-backed ideas for student profile building and passion projects.
• Conduct competitor and market research within the education and admissions space.
• Maintain and update InRoot's opportunity and research databases.

Partnerships \& Outreach

• Identify potential partner schools, universities, NGOs, government bodies, public institutions, companies, and other organisations.
• Research relevant decision-makers and develop institutional contact databases.
• Support outreach through email, LinkedIn, calls, and other professional channels.
• Assist in developing partnership proposals, presentations, and outreach material.
• Coordinate meetings, follow-ups, and maintain a structured partnership pipeline.
• Explore collaborations around student workshops, internships, research, volunteering, competitions, leadership programmes, and other initiatives.
• Support outreach and relationship-building with relevant government departments, public officials, and institutions under appropriate supervision.

Content \& Knowledge Development

• Convert research into concise opportunity briefs, reports, databases, presentations, and student resources.
• Share regular updates on new opportunities, market developments, and potential partnerships.

• Ability to independently research, identify leads, and follow up.
• Good working knowledge of Google Sheets/Excel and Google Docs.
• Interest in education, universities, youth development, public initiatives, or social impact.

Preferred

Prior experience in research, consulting, business development, partnerships, education, outreach, or communications.

Ideal Candidate

Someone who is curious, proactive, well-organised, comfortable communicating with stakeholders, and good at turning research into opportunities.

The candidate should enjoy both finding what's out there and creating new relationships that can benefit InRoot and its students.
