Commis – Bakery & Pastry: Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

Weigh and prepare ingredients and maintain accurate mise en place for pastry production.

Support preparation of bread, cakes, pastries and desserts under senior-chef guidance.

Follow recipes, portion sizes and instructions for safe preparation and presentation.

Keep worktables, ovens, storage areas and utensils clean and correctly organised.

Rotate ingredients, check freshness and report shortages or quality concerns.

Assist with service readiness and timely handover of prepared products.

Relevant Skills and Experience

Foundational bakery or pastry preparation skills gained through training or work.

Willingness to learn, attention to detail and reliable teamwork.

Understanding of food hygiene and safe use of kitchen equipment.

Ability to follow recipes and work efficiently during hotel service.
