Team Lead - Accounting

Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Team Lead – Accounting with strong knowledge of Indian accounting practices and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and client management skills, along with the ability to lead a team, manage client relationships, and ensure timely and accurate delivery of accounting services.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Handle client communications, address queries, and maintain strong professional relationships.

Lead and guide the accounting team to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of deliverables.

Ensure compliance with Indian statutory requirements, including GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other applicable regulations.

Oversee bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end/year-end closing activities.

Review financial statements, accounting records, and statutory filings for accuracy and compliance.

Coordinate with clients for financial data, supporting documents, reconciliations, and other accounting requirements.

Monitor team performance, allocate tasks, and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards.

Identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficient accounting practices.

Coordinate with internal teams and clients to resolve accounting and compliance-related issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.

5–8 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably with team-handling and client-facing responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, taxation, and statutory compliance.

Practical experience with GST, TDS, Income Tax, and related statutory filings.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong client management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.

Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in an accounting outsourcing, consulting, or professional services environment.

Experience managing multiple clients and accounting assignments simultaneously.

Knowledge of financial reporting, audit coordination, and compliance management.
