OT Technician

An Operation Theatre (OT) Technician in an eye care hospital is responsible for assisting ophthalmologists and surgeons during eye surgeries and ensuring smooth functioning of the operation theatre. The role includes preparing surgical instruments, maintaining OT sterility, supporting patient preparation, and handling ophthalmic equipment before, during, and after procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain the ophthalmic operation theatre before surgeries.

Sterilize surgical instruments and OT equipment as per infection control protocols.

Assist surgeons during ophthalmic procedures such as cataract, retina, cornea, LASIK, and glaucoma surgeries.

Arrange surgical consumables, lenses, medications, and instruments required for procedures.

Prepare patients for surgery and provide basic pre-operative support.

Ensure proper handling and maintenance of ophthalmic OT equipment and microscopes.

Monitor OT cleanliness and maintain aseptic conditions.

Maintain surgery records, instrument logs, and stock availability.

Coordinate with nursing staff, doctors, and biomedical departments.

Follow hospital safety standards and NABH protocols.

Education

Diploma in Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology
