Internship -Optometry

The Optometry Intern will work under the supervision of senior optometrists and ophthalmologists to gain practical experience in comprehensive eye examinations, diagnostic procedures, patient care, and clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in conducting comprehensive eye examinations and preliminary vision assessments.

Perform visual acuity, refraction, subjective and objective tests under supervision.

Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments.

Support diagnostic procedures such as IOP measurement, keratometry, pachymetry and other basic ophthalmic investigations.

Assist in contact lens assessment and patient counselling, where applicable.

Maintain accurate patient records and update clinical information in the hospital software.

Explain basic procedures and provide appropriate instructions to patients.

Assist ophthalmologists and senior optometrists during clinical consultations.

Follow hospital protocols, infection-control practices and patient-safety guidelines.

Maintain cleanliness and proper handling of optometry equipment.

Participate in departmental training, CME programs and other learning activities.

Maintain professional behaviour and confidentiality of patient information.
