About the Role

We are looking for a meticulous and initiative-taking Senior Executive – Material Planning to plan all general inventory items and domestically sourced materials across our Gandhinagar manufacturing operations. The role keeps production supplied — planning requirements against the production schedule, raising purchase requisitions, following them through with the Domestic Procurement team, and holding inventory at the right level. It suits someone who is methodical, follows things to closure, and would rather prevent a shortage than report one.

Position detailsDesignation: Senior Executive – Material PlanningFunction: Supply Chain Management – Centralised Material PlanningReporting to: Deputy General Manager – Supply Chain PlanningLocation: Gandhinagar, GujaratExperience: 2 – 5 years

Key Responsibilities Planning and requirement generation

Plan and monitor material requirements for all general inventory items across manufacturing operations.

Generate material requirement plans from production schedules, forecasts, and consumption patterns.

Raise purchase requisitions on time and with accurate quantities and dates.

Maintain planning data in the ERP — reorder levels, safety stock, lead times, and material master records.

Follow-through and availability

Coordinate with the Domestic Procurement team to ensure requirements convert into timely purchase orders.

Track open purchase orders and supplier lead times and follow up proactively to avoid production delays.

Review daily material availability against the production plan and highlight potential risks early.

Support new product launches by planning and securing required materials in time.

Inventory control

Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock to prevent both shortages and excess.

Analyse material consumption trends and recommend inventory optimisation actions.

Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective action.

Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy improvement with Stores.

Coordination and reporting

Work closely with Production Planning, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality and Stores for seamless material flow.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on inventory status, shortages, purchase follow-ups, and planning performance.

Ensure adherence to company inventory policies and planning processes.

Scope boundary This role plans requirements and follows them through to delivery. Supplier selection, negotiation, and purchase order placement sit with the Domestic Procurement team. The planner is accountable for raising the right requirement at the right time and for escalating delays early.

What success looks like in the first 90 days?

All general inventory items under an active, maintained plan.

Open purchase requisitions and orders tracked daily, with delays escalated before they affect production.

ERP planning parameters cleaned up and accurate for the assigned material groups.

A working daily shortage report that production and procurement both rely on.

Key Performance Indicators

Material availability for production (%)

Stock-out incidents.

Inventory turns and inventory record accuracy.

Purchase requisitions raised on or before the planned date

Open purchase order follow-up adherence

Reduction in excess and obsolete inventory

Planning accuracy — requirement plan against actual consumption

Production schedule adherence attributable to material availability

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Commerce, or a related field.

A diploma or certification in Supply Chain or Inventory Management will be an advantage.

Experience

2 to 5 years in material planning, inventory management, or production planning.

Experience coordinating with domestic suppliers and an internal procurement team.

Manufacturing background preferred — signage, printing, textiles, packaging or similar.

Exposure to a high-SKU or made-to-order environment is an advantage.

Technical Skills

Good working understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP).

Experience with an ERP system — SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent.

Strong Microsoft Excel — pivot tables, lookup functions, and reporting.

Ability to analyse material consumption and demand trends.

Competencies

Methodical, organised, and strong on follow-through.

Analytical, with genuine diligence.

Effective communication and coordination skills across departments.

Able to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Takes ownership and closes items rather than passing them on.
