Press Tool Maker (Stamping)

Key ResponsibilitiesTool Manufacturing \& Assembly

• Manufacture new press tools, dies, punches, and related tooling as per engineering drawings.
• Perform tool fitting, grinding, milling, drilling, turning, and bench work operations.
• Assemble progressive, compound, and single-stage press tools.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances during tool fabrication and assembly.

Tool Maintenance \& Repair

• Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance of press tools.
• Analyze tool wear, damage, and failures to identify root causes.
• Repair damaged punches, dies, guide pillars, bushes, stripper plates, and other tool components.
• Ensure tools are maintained for optimum production efficiency and component quality.

Tool Trials \& Production Support

• Participate in tool trials and sample development activities.
• Support production teams during tool setup and troubleshooting.
• Fine-tune tools to achieve dimensional accuracy and required production output.
• Reduce machine downtime through quick and efficient tool servicing.

Quality \& Inspection

• Use precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, and Slip Gauges.
• Ensure manufactured and repaired tools meet drawing specifications and quality standards.
• Maintain tool inspection records and history cards.

Safety \& Housekeeping

• Follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Maintain 5S standards in the tool room.
• Ensure safe handling of machines, tools, and equipment.

Required Skills \& Competencies

• Strong knowledge of press tools, dies, punches, and sheet metal stamping processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD\&T.
• Proficiency in operating conventional tool room machines such as
• Surface Grinder
• Milling Machine
• Lathe Machine
• Drill Machine
• Tool \& Cutter Grinder
• Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and tool materials.
• Understanding of progressive, compound, and blanking tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.

Educational Qualification

• ITI in Tool \& Die Making / Machinist / Fitter.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

ExperiencePress Tool Maker

• 3-5 years of experience in press tool manufacturing and maintenance.

Senior Press Tool Maker

• 5+ years of experience in progressive and high-speed precision stamping tools.

Salary Range (Indicative)

• Press Tool Maker: ₹3.5 LPA – ₹6.5 LPA
• Senior Press Tool Maker: ₹6.5 LPA – ₹10 LPA+ (Depending on skills, experience, and industry exposure)

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience in High-Speed Precision Stamping Tools.
• Knowledge of Progressive Die Maintenance.
• Basic understanding of CAD drawings (AutoCAD/SolidWorks).
• Exposure to TPM, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S practices.
