Bookkeeper
Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial records of our restaurant business. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for recording sales, purchases, expenses, payments, payroll-related transactions, bank transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records.
The ideal candidate should have experience with bookkeeping and preferably have worked in a restaurant, hospitality, retail, or other high-volume business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate daily bookkeeping and accounting records.
Record daily restaurant sales from POS, online ordering platforms, cash, card, UPI, and other payment methods.
Reconcile daily sales with POS reports, bank deposits, card settlements, and cash collections.
Record and track purchases of food, beverages, packaging materials, supplies, and other operating expenses.
Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
Verify supplier invoices, bills, purchase orders, and payment records.
Track vendor balances and coordinate with suppliers regarding outstanding payments.
Perform regular bank and cash reconciliations.
Monitor petty cash and maintain supporting documentation for expenses.
Assist with payroll records, staff advances, reimbursements, and other employee-related payments.
Maintain proper records of taxes, invoices, and statutory payments in coordination with the accountant/CA.
Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management.
Assist in monitoring food costs, beverage costs, labor costs, and other operating expenses.
Identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, duplicate payments, or missing documentation and report them to management.
Maintain organized digital and physical financial records.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Support management and external accountants/auditors with required financial information.
Restaurant-Specific Responsibilities
The Bookkeeper should pay particular attention to
Daily sales reconciliation between POS and actual collections.
Cash shortages and overages.
Credit/debit card and UPI settlements.
Online delivery platform settlements and commissions.
Food and beverage purchase records.
Inventory-related financial records.
Wastage and complimentary/discount transactions.
Vendor invoices and payment schedules.
Staff meals, discounts, refunds, voids, and cancellations.
Food cost and beverage cost reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field preferred.
2–5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in a restaurant, hotel, café, or hospitality business.
Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Experience with accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or similar software.
Good Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work with large volumes of daily transactions.
Preferred Skills
Experience with restaurant POS systems.
Experience reconciling online food-delivery platforms.
Knowledge of GST and basic Indian accounting/tax requirements.
Experience handling vendor accounts and purchase records.
Understanding of restaurant food-cost and inventory reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Accuracy of daily sales reconciliation.
Timely completion of bank and cash reconciliations.
Accuracy and completeness of bookkeeping records.
Timely processing of supplier invoices and payments.
Identification and resolution of financial discrepancies.
