Video Editor & Social Content Producer
Role Overview
We are looking for a Video Editor & Social Content Producer who can help us significantly deepen our organic reach across Instagram and YouTube.
The primary skill required for this role is high-quality video editing and creative production. Social media management, publishing and analytics are important supporting capabilities, but this is not primarily a Social Media Executive role.
This is also not a conventional editing role where someone gives you a timestamp, tells you what clip to use, writes the hook and asks you to assemble the video.
We are looking for someone who can take a webinar, training session, student interaction, testimonial, event or other long-form content and independently determine
What is actually worth turning into content
Which moments have the strongest social-media potential
What the opening hook should be
What should be cut to improve retention
Where pacing drops
Whether B-roll, captions, graphics, sound or visual elements are needed
How the same idea can be repurposed differently for Instagram and YouTube
Which content deserves to be prioritised based on its potential for organic reach
The objective is not simply to produce more videos. The objective is to consistently create content that earns attention, watch time, engagement, shares and organic distribution.
Core Responsibility
Your core responsibility will be hands-on video editing and creative production.
You should be capable of taking raw footage and converting it into polished, engaging, social-first content without needing detailed editing instructions for every piece.
A significant part of your work will involve extracting content from DVA's existing ecosystem — webinars, classes, bootcamps, community sessions, student stories, events, founder content and other long-form recordings — and converting it into effective short-form and long-form social content.
This is not a trainee position. You should already be professionally competent in editing and should be capable of contributing from the beginning with limited technical training.
Key Responsibilities
Video Editing & Creative Production
Edit high-quality Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, YouTube videos, testimonials, promotional videos and social-first content
Work extensively with talking-head, educational, webinar and long-form footage
Create compelling opening sequences and hooks
Improve pacing by intelligently removing pauses, repetition, weak sections and unnecessary content
Use captions, typography, motion graphics, transitions, music, sound design, B-roll and visual elements where they genuinely strengthen the content
Maintain high standards for framing, composition, colour, audio quality and visual consistency
Adapt videos appropriately for different aspect ratios, durations and platform formats
Create supporting thumbnails, covers, social creatives, graphics and other visual assets
Maintain consistency with DVA's overall brand and visual standards
Creative quality is a core part of the role — not an occasional Canva responsibility.
Content Discovery From Long-Form Footage
You should not need timestamps for every Reel or Short.
You will be expected to independently review longer recordings and identify the moments that deserve to become standalone content.
For example, from a 1–2 hour session, you should be able to identify
Strong educational insights
Interesting founder perspectives
Emotional or powerful student moments
Relatable problems or misconceptions
Transformation stories
Strong questions and answers
Curiosity-driven statements
Contrarian or opinion-led content
Clips with strong share/save potential
Moments capable of generating meaningful audience discussion
You should then recommend the appropriate hook, edit structure, creative treatment and platform for those moments.
This ability to recognise strong content before editing it is one of the most important requirements for this role.
Hooks, Storytelling & Retention
A technically beautiful video that people stop watching after five seconds has failed.
You should understand how to structure content for attention and retention, including
The importance of the first 1–3 seconds
Strong opening hooks
Removing unnecessary context before the main point
Pattern interrupts
Pacing
Visual changes
Caption treatment
Curiosity and information gaps
Payoff
Story structure
Closing the video without unnecessary drag
The editing decision should always serve the content and viewer, rather than simply showcasing editing effects.
Social Media & Organic Growth Understanding
We specifically want someone who understands that editing for social media is different from simply producing an attractive video.
You should have a practical understanding of Instagram and YouTube performance, including
Audience retention
Average watch time
Completion rate
Replays
Shares
Saves
Comments and engagement
Follower growth
Hook performance
Thumbnail and title behaviour
Click-through rate where applicable
Platform-native content formats
Appropriate video duration
Posting frequency
Content trends
Recommendation and distribution behaviour
How content performance affects further organic reach
You are not expected to claim that you can "crack the algorithm."
You are expected to understand enough about how Instagram and YouTube distribute content to make better creative, editing and publishing decisions.
Content Repurposing
Strong content should not be used once and forgotten.
You should be able to think about how one idea or recording can become multiple pieces of content.
For example
One webinar segment could potentially become
Instagram Reel
YouTube Short
Longer YouTube video
Testimonial clip
Quote creative
Carousel
Thumbnail-led content
Multiple clips built around different hooks
The treatment should be appropriate for each platform rather than mechanically posting the exact same creative everywhere.
Social Media Publishing & Execution
The role will also include supporting the end-to-end
