Cashier

Job Title: Cashier / Billing Executive Department: Retail Operations / Sales Reports To: Store Manager / Accounts Supervisor Job Overview We are looking for an accurate, efficient, and customer-focused Cashier to handle all financial transactions at our checkout counter. In this role, you will process cash, card, and digital payments using the Point of Sale (POS) system, ensure billing accuracy, issue receipts, and maintain a welcoming checkout experience for customers. Key Responsibilities

• Transaction Handling: Process customer sales transactions quickly and accurately via cash, debit/credit cards, UPI, digital wallets, or store credits/gift cards.
• POS Operation: Scan items, register sales, apply discounts, coupons, or promotional codes, and issue official invoices or receipts.
• Cash Management: Maintain and balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift. Reconcile daily register totals against total sales collected and account for any discrepancies.
• Customer Care: Greet customers warmly during checkout, answer general inquiries, assist with loyalty programs, and address basic customer returns or exchanges according to company policy.
• Returns & Refunds: Process refunds, exchanges, and merchandise credit notes accurately, ensuring manager approval where required.
• Checkout Maintenance: Keep the register area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies (receipt paper, shopping bags, change).
• Inventory & Security: Assist in monitoring store items near the checkout area to minimize loss and report suspicious activities or pricing errors to store management. Requirements & Qualifications
• Education: High school diploma, Higher Secondary (10+2), or equivalent. A degree/diploma in commerce or business is a plus.
• Experience: 0–2 years of experience as a cashier, retail associate, billing executive, or customer service representative. Freshers with strong basic math skills are welcome to apply.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating basic POS systems, barcode scanners, card machines (EDC terminals), and billing software (e.g., Tally, Zoho, or proprietary POS tools).
• Numerical Ability: Strong mental math skills for accurate cash calculation and change distribution.
• Communication: Clear verbal communication and a friendly, polite deportment.
• Attention to Detail: High accuracy in product scanning, entering quantities, and handling payment receipts. Key Competencies

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak customer hours.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for billing or terminal issues.
• Customer-first attitude with strong patience and conflict-resolution skills.
