WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Kathputlee Arts \& Films has spent 19 years building stories that matter — feature films, 300+ brand commercials, animation. We are now creating an original graphic novel, and we are building its artwork with AI-assisted tools.

AI can generate a beautiful image in seconds. It cannot make a book. A graphic novel needs panel-to-panel storytelling, pacing, and characters who look like the same person on page 1 and page 80. That is what we need you for.

This is a project role — one complete graphic novel, from character design to final lettered pages. It is not a full-time position, and it is not a prompt-operator role. We want an artist who uses AI as a tool, not a shortcut.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Story to Page

• Read the script and break it into pages and panels — layout, framing, pacing, and mood
• Create rough layouts and thumbnails for approval before moving to final art
• Make every page read clearly — the reader should never be lost between panels

Art \& AI Workflow

• Generate artwork using AI tools
• Build character sheets and a locked visual style, and hold them consistent across the entire book
• Retouch, repaint and composite in Photoshop or Procreate — no visible AI artefacts, drifting faces or broken hands in the final pages
• Add speech bubbles, captions and sound effects, and deliver print-ready and digital files

Collaboration

• Visit our Delhi place for story and art reviews, and whenever a discussion is needed
• Take feedback well and revise without losing the overall style
• Deliver pages in agreed batches, on schedule, with regular progress updates

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The non-negotiables

• A portfolio with sequential work — graphic novels, comics, webtoons, storyboards or similar
• 1–5 years of experience in illustration, graphic design or visual storytelling
• Hands-on experience with AI image generation tools, with strong prompting and iteration skills
• Strong command of Photoshop, Procreate or Illustrator to clean up and finish AI output
• Available to visit our Delhi office for monthly discussions

The things that will make us say yes faster

• Based in Delhi NCR
• Has completed a full comic or graphic novel, start to finish
• Can draw able to fix a hand, a face or a pose by hand when AI gets it wrong
• Uses consistency workflows — character references, LoRA, ControlNet or similar
• Understands lettering and print preparation

What will not work here

• Beautiful single images, but no sense of sequence or storytelling
• Raw AI output delivered with no cleanup or finishing
• Characters that change face, costume or proportions from page to page
• The generic "AI look" with no distinct style
• Goes silent mid-project or misses delivery dates without warning

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE — PROJECT MILESTONES

• Stage 1 — Style locked. Character sheets, style frames and 2–3 sample pages approved.
• Stage 2 — Production. Pages delivered in agreed batches, on schedule, with consistent characters and minimal rework.
• Stage 3 — Final delivery. The complete graphic novel — lettered, finished and print-ready — handed over.
