VMC Programmer cum operator

Roles \& Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machines for precision component manufacturing.
• Develop and modify CNC programs using G-code/M-code based on engineering drawings.
• Set machine parameters, work offsets, tool offsets, and tool wear offsets.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, speeds, feeds, and machining methods.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, GD\&T, and machining specifications.
• Perform machine setup, tool setting, workpiece alignment, and job loading/unloading.
• Execute roughing, finishing, drilling, tapping, pocketing, contouring, and other milling operations.
• Verify first-off components using Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, and other measuring instruments.
• Monitor machining operations and make necessary program/offset corrections to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot program errors, tool breakage, dimensional issues, and machine-related problems.
• Optimize CNC programs to improve cycle time, tool life, productivity, and surface finish.
• Maintain proper machine, tooling, and production records.
• Coordinate with Tool Room, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve production issues.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and production targets.
• Reduce rejection, rework, tool consumption, and machine downtime through effective process control.
• Maintain housekeeping and follow 5S and workplace safety practices.
