Purchase Executive
Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Purchase Executive to support our procurement activities. The candidate will assist in sourcing materials and services, coordinating with vendors, preparing purchase orders, maintaining procurement records, and ensuring timely delivery of required items.
Candidates with experience or exposure to the shipping, maritime, logistics, or marine industry will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the day-to-day purchase and procurement activities of the company.
Source materials, marine supplies, spare parts, and other required goods/services from approved vendors.
Obtain and compare quotations from different suppliers.
Assist in negotiating prices, delivery timelines, and other commercial terms.
Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) as per company requirements.
Coordinate with vendors regarding quotations, orders, availability, and delivery status.
Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Coordinate with the Operations, Technical, Accounts, and other departments regarding purchase requirements.
Maintain and update the vendor database, quotation records, purchase orders, and procurement documents.
Assist in verifying invoices, delivery notes, quotations, and other purchase-related documents.
Maintain proper records of purchases and vendor communications.
Assist in monitoring stock levels and informing the concerned department about replenishment requirements.
Support vendor evaluation and maintain vendor performance records.
Ensure procurement activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and approval processes.
Assist the senior purchase team in cost comparison and cost control.
Perform other purchase-related activities as assigned by the reporting manager.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
0–2 years of experience in purchase/procurement.
Freshers with relevant educational background may also be considered.
Experience/exposure in the shipping, maritime, marine, or logistics industry is preferred.
Basic knowledge of marine spare parts, ship supplies, or vessel-related procurement will be an added advantage.
Good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
Basic understanding of purchase processes, quotations, Purchase Orders, invoices, and documentation.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Strong follow-up and organizational skills.
Ability to work with multiple vendors and manage deadlines.
Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
