OT Scrub Nurse

Pre-Operative Responsibilities (Before Surgery)

Prepare the Environment

Ensure the operating room is clean, safe, and properly stocked with necessary surgical tools and equipment.

Surgical Scrubbing

Perform a strict surgical hand scrub, then put on sterile gowns, gloves, and masks.

Set Up Sterile Tables

Arrange sterile instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies on the Mayo stand and back table.

Conduct Initial Counts

Perform initial counts of sponges, instruments, and needles alongside the circulating nurse.

Assist the Team

Help surgeons and assistants put on their sterile gowns and gloves, and assist with surgical draping of the patient.

Intra-Operative Responsibilities (During Surgery)

Maintain Sterility

Protect the sterile field continuously and monitor the team to prevent contamination.

Pass Instruments

Hand required surgical tools, sponges, and supplies to the surgeon swiftly and accurately.

Anticipate Needs

Predict the surgeon’s next steps by understanding the procedure and observing surgical progress.

Manage Specimens

Handle and label tissue specimens correctly according to hospital safety policies.

Track Counts

Monitor ongoing counts of items used in the cavity to ensure nothing is left behind.

Post-Operative Responsibilities (After Surgery)

Perform Final Counts

Complete final sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse and report results to the surgeon.

Apply Dressings

Clean the surgical wound area and apply sterile dressings.

Clear and Clean

Dispose of used drapes, sharps, and waste safely, and prepare instruments for sterilization.

Document and Transfer: Complete accurate medical documentation of the counts and supplies used, then help transfer the patient safely to the recovery room.

Pay

₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
