SuperKalam (YC W23) is building the best AI tutor platform out of India, in the vein of Duolingo. This is a high impact role. We are eager to talk to a Mobile Engineer with an amazing sense of quality in engineering deliverables and strong ownership.

Requirements

Ideally 2 to 4 yrs of experience building mobile apps + backend (React Native and NodeJS/NestJS)

Strong engineering fundamentals, loves great architecture and writes scalable code

Uses AI in workflow beyond prompting: skills, plugins, workflows, loops, agents

Mobile: high quality UI and smooth animations; handled performance, optimized app builds, push notifications. Bonus: bridges, widgets, own libraries

Backend: CRUD APIs, Redis, queues, caching, PostgreSQL / MySQL, rate limiting, basics of scaling and security, cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP). Bonus: Elasticsearch

Preferred

Gen AI engineering (production AI pipelines, agentic workflows, voice agents, RAG / knowledge graphs). Bonus: Python

Responsibilities

Build new features and initiatives across backend and the mobile app

Deployments, performance, push notifications

Set up tooling and run experiments: crons, automation workflows, AI tooling

Product and design reviews

Keep pushing the team's tech quotient with evolving technology and AI tooling

Decide for speed to production plus quality for today

Who will thrive here: 2+ yrs in a product based startup (including internship), enjoys complex engineering and product problems, engineering mindset (scripts, automation, quick dashboards), ownership mindset and a strong individual contributor, first principle thinking and clear communication.

Compensation

15 to 35 LPA based on experience. ESOPs for the right candidate.

Interview: resume shortlisting, 30 min intro meet, 1h 15m in-person fundamentals round (JS/TS, no DSA), 1h 15m in-person system design (LLD), optional 2-3 day fullstack mobile assignment, optional 1h 15m system design (HLD).
