Job Description
The Chief Security Officer is responsible for overall security management of a naval base, ensuring protection of personnel, assets, classified materials, and operational infrastructure. The role includes supervision of gate control operations, coordination with civil and defence agencies, and management of movement of personnel, materials, and heavy machinery within the base premises.Key Responsibilities1. Base Security ManagementOversee end-to-end security operations of the naval base.Develop and implement security protocols aligned with defence/security regulations.Ensure protection of restricted, sensitive, and classified areas.Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability checks.2. Gate & Access Control ManagementSupervise entry/exit points of personnel, vehicles, and materials.Ensure strict identity verification and authorization checks at gates.Monitor visitor management systems and issue entry permits.Prevent unauthorized access and handle security breaches.3. Movement of Personnel, Materials & MachineryRegulate and coordinate safe movement of men, materials, and heavy equipment inside the base.Ensure proper documentation and clearance for logistics and transport activities.Monitor loading/unloading operations in sensitive zones.Coordinate with logistics, engineering, and operations teams.4. Liaison & CoordinationLiaise with naval authorities, defence police, intelligence units, and civil administration.Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for security compliance.Maintain communication with emergency services and law enforcement agencies.5. Surveillance & Incident ManagementSupervise CCTV monitoring, patrol teams, and alarm systems.Respond to security incidents, breaches, or emergencies.Lead investigation of security violations and submit reports.Ensure incident documentation and escalation protocols are followed.6. Personnel SupervisionManage and train security staff, gate personnel, and patrol teams.Ensure discipline, duty rotation, and performance monitoring.Conduct security drills and emergency response training.7. Compliance & ReportingEnsure compliance with naval security regulations and SOPs.Prepare daily, weekly, and incident-based security reports.Maintain logs for movement control, visitor records, and asset tracking.
