Blood Bank Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests to determine blood group antigens and antibodies
• Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions
• Test blood samples for viral or bacterial infections
• Ensure the safe storage and proper handling of blood products
• Perform cross-matching tests to determine compatibility between donors and recipients
• Document test results and maintain a database of all blood donations
• Conduct routine maintenance and quality control on blood bank equipment
• Maintain records of blood bank inventory and other documents
• Ensure compliance with blood bank policies and procedures
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
