Plant Maintenance Head

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage plant maintenance operations, ensuring maximum machine availability and minimum downtime.

Manage maintenance of CNC and VMC machines, HMC machines and other machine-shop equipment.

Plan and implement preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance activities for CNC/VMC machines.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, servo-drive and PLC-related issues in CNC/VMC equipment.

Ensure timely servicing and proper functioning of machine-tool systems and associated utilities.

Analyze recurring machine breakdowns through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Monitor equipment downtime, MTBF, MTTR and machine availability; prepare maintenance performance reports.

Develop preventive maintenance schedules, checklists and equipment history records.

Manage critical spare parts, inventory, maintenance budgets and vendor coordination.

Implement TPM, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine reliability and productivity.

Coordinate with Production, Quality and other departments to reduce machine-related production losses.

Lead, train and manage maintenance engineers, technicians and shift maintenance teams.

Ensure compliance with machine safety, electrical safety and statutory requirements.

Drive maintenance cost reduction, energy conservation and equipment efficiency improvements.

Educational Qualification BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, EEE, Mechatronics or a relevant engineering discipline.

Diploma candidates may be considered based on relevant experience and technical competency.

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 20 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance, preferably in automotive component or precision manufacturing.

Strong hands-on experience in CNC and VMC machine maintenance; HMC maintenance experience is an advantage.

Expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in CNC/VMC machines.

Knowledge of CNC controls, servo drives, spindle systems, PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation.

Experience in preventive maintenance planning, breakdown analysis and equipment reliability improvement.

Strong knowledge of TPM, RCA, MTBF, MTTR and maintenance cost control.
