PCB Layout Trainee

Job Summary

We are looking for a PCB Layout Trainee to support our electronics design team in the layout, routing, and documentation of printed circuit boards for precision automation and defence-grade systems, while undergoing structured on-the-job training in PCB design tools and processes.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electronics, Electronics \& Communication, or a related field
• Experience: 6 months to 1 year

Required Skills

• Basic understanding of electronic components, circuit schematics, and PCB fundamentals
• Familiarity with PCB design/CAD tools such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle (academic exposure acceptable)
• Understanding of layer stack-up, trace routing, and basic design-for-manufacture (DFM) concepts
• Ability to read schematics and datasheets
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn under supervision
• Basic computer literacy and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in PCB layout and routing based on schematics and design guidelines
• Support component placement, footprint verification, and layer stack-up as guided by senior engineers
• Help prepare Gerber files, BOMs, and fabrication/assembly documentation
• Assist in design rule checks (DRC) and basic quality verification of PCB layouts
• Coordinate with the electronics and mechanical teams for enclosure and fit checks
• Maintain version control and documentation of design files
• Participate in on-the-job training sessions and apply feedback to improve design accuracy
