About this job
Swastik Technopack Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a results-driven Production \& Planning Manager to join our leadership team. This role bridges strategic Production Planning \& Control (PPC) and direct shop-floor manufacturing execution.
You will synchronise customer sales orders, Bills of Materials (BOMs), inventory, and shop-floor capacity across Machining, Fabrication, Assembly, and Conveyor departments. The ideal candidate ensures seamless throughput, on-time delivery (OTD), optimized manufacturing costs, and strict compliance with ISO 9001 and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning \& Scheduling (PPC)
- Formulate and update the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on confirmed sales orders, project priorities, and committed delivery dates.
- Develop detailed Production Activity Control (PAC) plans (daily, weekly, monthly) across Fabrication, Machining, Assembly, Conveyor, Machine Assembly, Testing, and Dispatch.
- Conduct Capacity Requirement Planning (CRP) for machines, stations, and manpower while monitoring machine loading, process capacity, and lead times.
- Issue and track Work Orders, Job Cards, Production Orders, and Material Requisitions via the ERP system.
Shop-Floor Execution \& Operations
- Direct day-to-day manufacturing operations across Fabrication, Machining, Conveyor Assembly, Machine Assembly, and Final Testing.
- Allocate manpower, machines, tools, and work orders according to production priorities and skill requirements (welders, fitters, machinists, assembly techs).
- Monitor WIP movement, cycle times, throughput, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and schedule adherence to resolve bottlenecks rapidly.
- Lead daily/weekly production reviews with department supervisors to address delays and prioritize tasks.
Material Planning \& Supply Chain Alignment
- Partner with Purchase and Stores teams to align Material Requirements Planning (MRP) with shop-floor schedules.
- Track raw materials, bought-out components, and WIP inventory to eliminate material shortages and prevent production stoppages.
- Monitor material consumption to reduce scrap, wastage, and excess inventory.
Assembly, Testing \& Subcontractor Management
- Ensure timely delivery of machined and fabricated components to the assembly line.
- Coordinate technical modifications and clarifications with Design \& Engineering teams.
- Oversee pre-dispatch inspections, machine trials, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in coordination with QA and Engineering.
- Coordinate with external vendors/subcontractors for outsourced fabrication, machining, and surface treatment; manage vendor quality and delivery schedules.
Quality Control, Lean \& Continuous Improvement
- Enforce compliance with engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Promote a First-Time-Right (FTR) culture; drive Non-Conformance Report (NCR) closures and root-cause analysis to minimize rework and rejection.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, visual management, and waste reduction.
MIS, Reporting \& Safety Compliance
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports covering production output, OEE, downtime, rejection rates, and delivery status.
- Enforce company safety protocols, ensuring proper PPE usage and safe material handling/lifting practices across all operations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Delivery Performance: On-Time Delivery (OTD) \& Schedule Adherence
- Operational Efficiency: Machine Utilization, OEE, \& Cycle Time Reduction
- Inventory \& WIP: Optimized WIP Levels \& Low Material Shortages
- Quality \& Waste: First-Time-Right % \& Reductions in Rejection, Rework, and Scrap
- Cost Control: Manufacturing Cost Control \& Manpower Productivity
Candidate Requirements \& Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience: 8–10+ years of experience in Production Planning (PPC) and Shop-Floor Management within custom machinery manufacturing, conveyors, capital equipment, or heavy engineering sectors.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on exposure to metal fabrication (welding, cutting, fit-up), machining processes, sub-assemblies, and conveyor/machine testing.
- Systems \& Tools: Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, or local ERPs, Zoho books), MRP, MS Excel, and project planning tools.
- Lean Manufacturing: Demonstrated experience implementing 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, and root-cause analytical techniques (8D, 5-Why).
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, manpower management, cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
