Gym Instructor and Pool Attendant

To ensure the safety, security, and well-being of guests and using the swimming pool facilities. The Lifeguard is responsible for monitoring pool activities, preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and guest service in accordance with hotel standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain constant and vigilant supervision of the swimming pool and surrounding areas.

Ensure compliance with swimming pool safety rules and hotel policies.

Identify potential hazards and take immediate preventive action.

Prevent unsafe behaviour, diving in restricted areas, running, and other risky activities.

Ensure children are supervised in accordance with hotel pool policies.

Restrict access to the pool when conditions are unsafe.

Emergency Response

Respond immediately to drowning incidents, injuries, medical emergencies, and other emergencies.

Perform rescue operations, CPR, and first aid within the scope of training and certification.

Activate emergency response procedures and coordinate with the hotel’s medical and security teams.

Ensure rescue equipment, first-aid kits, and emergency communication devices are accessible and serviceable.

Pool Maintenance and Hygiene

Conduct routine checks of pool water clarity, cleanliness, and visible safety conditions.

Report any concerns regarding water quality, equipment, or pool infrastructure to the concerned department.

Ensure poolside areas, rescue equipment, and safety signage are clean and properly maintained.

Coordinate with Engineering and Housekeeping for maintenance and hygiene requirements.

Guest Service

Welcome guests courteously and provide clear guidance on pool rules and facilities.

Assist guests with pool-related queries while maintaining continuous safety surveillance.

Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate complaints to the supervisor.

Maintain guest privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

Documentation and Compliance

Maintain pool inspection checklists, incident reports, and daily safety records.

Report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment defects immediately.

Attend mandatory safety training, emergency drills, and departmental briefings.

Follow hotel policies, occupational safety procedures, and applicable statutory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum education

10th or 12th standard; higher qualifications are an advantage.

Valid lifeguard certification from a recognised training provider.

Current CPR, First Aid, and basic life-support training as required for the role.

Prior experience in a hotel, resort, club, or swimming pool facility is preferred.

Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel will be an added advantage.

Strong swimming ability and demonstrated rescue skills are essential.
