Gramin Dak Sevaks run branch post offices in villages: Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak. There is no exam; selection is on 10th marks. It is a part-time-hours post paid through TRCA, not a regular departmental job.

Study

10th pass with Maths and English, and studied the local language up to 10th.

18-40. SC/ST +5, OBC +3.

Basic computer knowledge; cycling knowledge; BPM must arrange accommodation for the post office in the village after selection.

How to prepare

  • Choose posts in villages where you can actually live and work; you may be asked to stay in the village.
  • Enter 10th marks exactly as in the marksheet (total of compulsory and optional subjects as the rules say).
  • Get a basic computer training certificate ready; it is checked at verification. Check the official notice
  • Merit lists come in several rounds; check the site after each list.
  • Learn to ride a cycle; it is a stated requirement. Check the official notice

Mistakes people make

  • Wrong marks entry (a mismatch cancels selection).
  • Not studying the local language up to 10th for that circle.
  • Treating GDS as a regular postal job; it is TRCA-based.
