Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented National Sales Manager to lead the company's sales operations across India. The candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing distribution networks, managing key accounts, strengthening channel partnerships, and achieving primary and secondary sales targets.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in the stationery, writing instruments, school/office supplies, FMCG, consumer products, or allied manufacturing industry, with proven exposure to distributor and dealer networks.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the national sales strategy in line with business objectives.
Own and achieve primary and secondary sales targets across India.
Build, expand and manage the distributor, dealer and retail network across regions.
Identify new markets, territories and business opportunities to drive revenue growth.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with distributors, dealers, modern trade and key institutional customers.
Monitor secondary sales, stock movement, market coverage and distributor performance.
Ensure effective implementation of sales schemes, promotions and channel initiatives.
Lead, mentor and manage the regional sales team and ensure achievement of territory-wise targets.
Work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Marketing and Finance teams to ensure smooth business operations.
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing and product positioning.
Develop sales forecasts and ensure optimum inventory availability across markets.
Review sales performance through regular MIS, dashboards and market reports.
Drive new product launches and market penetration across geographies.
Manage sales budgets, trade spends and promotional expenses effectively.
Travel extensively across India for market visits, distributor meetings and team reviews.
Candidate Profile
Experience: 12–18 years of relevant sales experience, preferably in stationery, writing instruments, school/office supplies, FMCG, consumer products or manufacturing.
Proven experience in National/Regional Sales Management with responsibility for multiple states/regions.
Strong experience in channel sales and distribution management.
Must have handled secondary sales ownership and distributor/dealer networks.
Experience managing and leading large sales teams.
Strong understanding of Indian markets and regional distribution dynamics.
Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-management skills.
Strong analytical and business-development capabilities.
Willingness to travel extensively across India.
Candidates currently based in Mumbai or willing to relocate to Mumbai will be preferred.
