About this job

We are looking for a skilled and responsible Blood Bank Technician with 2–3 years of relevant experience in blood collection, component preparation, blood grouping, cross-matching, testing, storage, and issue of blood and blood components. The candidate should have good knowledge of blood bank procedures, documentation, quality standards, and transfusion safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform ABO and Rh blood grouping and compatibility testing.
  • Conduct cross-matching and antibody screening as per established procedures.
  • Assist in blood donor registration, screening, and blood collection.
  • Perform collection, processing, separation, and preparation of blood components such as PRBC, FFP, Platelets, and Cryoprecipitate.
  • Conduct required screening of donated blood for TTIs (Transfusion Transmitted Infections) as per applicable protocols.
  • Maintain appropriate temperature-controlled storage of blood and blood components.
  • Monitor and maintain stock, issue, quarantine, discarded, and screened blood/component records.
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, and traceability of blood units and components.
  • Issue blood and blood components against properly authorized requests and maintain all required records.
  • Maintain blood bank registers, records, inventory, and documentation accurately.
  • Follow SOPs, infection-control practices, biomedical waste management, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor expiry dates, storage conditions, and quality of blood/components.
  • Assist during internal and external quality-control activities and audits.
  • Coordinate with clinicians, nursing staff, laboratory personnel, and other departments regarding blood/component requirements.
  • Report any discrepancy, transfusion reaction, or quality/safety issue to the appropriate authority.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the blood bank work area and equipment.
  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of blood bank equipment and instruments.

Required Skills

  • Good knowledge of Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine procedures.
  • Practical experience in blood grouping, cross-matching, component preparation, and blood collection.
  • Knowledge of TTI screening and blood/component storage requirements.
  • Familiarity with SOPs, quality control, NABH/NACO guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, especially during emergency blood requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge for maintaining blood bank records.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights/emergencies.

Eligibility

  • Qualification: DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of relevant experience in a hospital/blood bank.
  • Experience in a licensed hospital blood bank will be preferred.
Pay
₹25,000.00 - ₹31,000.00 per month
