Entry Level to 2 Years (Freshers Welcome)

Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Research Scientist to join our Research & Development (R&D) team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for routine and non-routine analytical testing using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), sample preparation, wet chemistry testing, and documentation. This is an ideal position for fresh graduates or junior scientists looking to build a strong career in pharmaceutical quality testing and process chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

Chromatographic Analysis: Perform Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) to monitor reaction progress, check raw material purity, identify unknown compounds, and analyze final drug intermediates/APIs.

Sample & Reagent Preparation: Prepare mobile phases, reagents, standard solutions, and sample solutions accurately following established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Derivatization & Detection: Apply appropriate visualization methods (UV detection, iodine staining, chemical sprays, heat treatment) to observe and record chromatographic results.

Data Documentation: Calculate $R_f$ (Retention Factor) values, document experimental observations, write lab notebook entries, and prepare analytical reports in compliance with cGMP/GLP standards.

Routine Analytical Testing: Conduct standard wet lab tests (e.g., pH measurement, loss on drying, titrations, melting point determinations) alongside TLC tasks.

Instrument Maintenance
Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and maintain inventory for silica plates, solvents, and reagents.
Laboratory Safety
Adhere strictly to laboratory safety regulations, hazardous material handling guidelines, and safe disposal procedures.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

Education
M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a B.Pharm / M.Pharm degree.
Experience
Open to Freshers or candidates with up to 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical analytical or R&D laboratory setting.

Technical Knowledge

Solid theoretical and practical understanding of chromatographic techniques (TLC, column chromatography basics).

Knowledge of functional group identification and visualization reagents (e.g., KMnO₄, Ninhydrin, Vanillin).

Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Skills

Strong precision, attention to detail, and visual observation skills.

Basic proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel).

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills (Bonus)

Exposure to additional analytical techniques like HPLC, GC, or UV-Vis spectroscopy.

Prior internship or project work focused on chemical synthesis or drug analysis.
