Fiber Network Technician

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and field-oriented Fiber Network Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic networks for broadband and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) connections. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring reliable connectivity, resolving customer network issues, and maintaining service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain FTTH/FTTx fiber optic networks for residential and commercial customers.
• Perform fiber optic cable laying, routing, termination, and splicing.
• Handle single-core fiber splicing and ribbon fiber splicing, wherever required.
• Conduct OTDR testing and power meter testing to identify fiber faults and signal loss.
• Install and troubleshoot ONT/ONU devices, routers, and other customer-premises equipment.
• Assist with OLT connectivity, GPON networks, and last-mile fiber connectivity.
• Identify and resolve fiber cuts, signal issues, connectivity failures, and broadband complaints.
• Perform preventive maintenance and fault rectification of fiber networks.
• Coordinate with LCOs (Local Cable Operators), field teams, and network support teams for service restoration.
• Ensure timely completion of new installations, service requests, and fault tickets.
• Maintain daily work reports, installation records, and fault-resolution details.
• Follow safety procedures while working on poles, ladders, rooftops, and outdoor network infrastructure.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience in FTTH/FTTx installation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of fiber optic cable handling, splicing, and termination.
• Familiarity with OTDR, optical power meters, and fiber fault identification.
• Basic understanding of OLT, ONU/ONT, GPON, and broadband networking.
• Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and signal-related issues.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned service area.

Educational Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Candidates with relevant practical experience may also be considered.

Experience

• Preferred: 1–3 years of experience in the ISP, FTTH, fiber optic, or telecom field.
• Candidates with hands-on experience in fiber installation, splicing, and troubleshooting will be preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Number of FTTH installations completed.
• Average fault-resolution time.
• First-time resolution rate.
• Network uptime and service restoration performance.
• Customer complaint resolution and service quality.
• Compliance with safety procedures and daily reporting requirements.

Job Requirements

• Willingness to work in the field and travel within the assigned location.
• Ability to handle installation tools and fiber testing equipment.
• Good discipline, punctuality, and customer-handling skills.
