Maintenance Incharge

Job Requirements

• Manage day-to-day induction furnace operations and ensure smooth production.
• Plan and control charging of scrap, Sponge Iron (DRI), Pig Iron and other raw materials as per the approved charge mix.
• Monitor melting cycle, furnace temperature, power consumption and tapping operations.
• Ensure the required chemical composition and steel grade in coordination with the laboratory team.
• Achieve daily production targets while maintaining quality and operational efficiency.
• Monitor metal yield, slag generation, material recovery and power consumption per ton.
• Check furnace lining condition, refractory life, cooling water system and other critical operating parameters.
• Supervise furnace operators, helpers and shift personnel.
• Coordinate with electrical and mechanical maintenance teams to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety standards, PPE requirements and housekeeping practices.
• Maintain production records, heat-wise reports, consumption data and shift handover reports.
• Identify operational issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Relevant experience in induction furnace operations in a steel melting plant.
• Strong knowledge of steel melting, charge mix, temperature control and furnace safety.
