Commis Chef - Chinese

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking authentic Chinese dishes as per standard recipes.
• Handle chopping, cutting, marination, and preparation of ingredients.
• Operate Chinese kitchen equipment, including wok burners and other cooking appliances.
• Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and food quality.
• Ensure proper food storage, labelling, and stock rotation (FIFO).
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in the kitchen.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and support daily kitchen operations.
• Minimise food wastage and ensure efficient utilisation of ingredients.
• Assist in buffet, à la carte, and banquet food preparation.

Candidate Profile

• ITI / Diploma / Degree in Hotel Management or relevant qualification preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in Chinese cuisine preferred.
• Good knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, sauces, and ingredients.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Ability to work in a team and handle pressure during busy operations.
• Passion for cooking with a willingness to learn and grow.
